It’s Friday night and the week is coming to an end and I felt like making a post here on the site. I’m not sure how often I will be making posts like this but I hope it will be on a semi-regular basis. These posts will let you get a little glimpse into my life that you don’t see over on YouTube or on Instagram. Here you will get to know a little bit more about Ross.

This week has gone by so fast. I feel like the hours and days clicked off at warp speed. I still feel like it’s only Monday evening but its not. Its Friday night and I’ve put in close to 60 hours at work this week and will be putting in a few more hours tomorrow on Saturday. I’m very grateful to have a job that I truly enjoy and being there doesn’t feel like being at work. Of course the long days mean my time at home is sometimes very limited. On Monday night I had to finish mowing the lawn. I have a battery powered lawn mower and I was only able to mow half of it on Sunday before the batteries needed to be recharged. I can’t really remember what happened Tuesday night. Wednesdy night I was home for about an hour before I went to meet up with friends to watch the season premier of American Horror Story: 1984. I really hope this season stays good all the way from beginning to end. I’m a huge fan of 70/80’s horror movies so this season is perfect for me and made me feel so happy watching it. Thursday night. Hmm I don’t really remember what I did last night. Then that brings us to tonight where I once I got home from work I just crashed on the couch and didn’t really do anything but suck in the tv and relax. I finally got myself off the couch and came into the yarn room and fired up the laptop and started typing.

Now I remember what I did on Tuesday and Thursday night. I did some knitting. I’ve been wanting to get back into planned pooling knitting after taking a few months break from it. It can take a lot of work but the end result is always stunning and rewarding when you see the argyle pattern. I was working with a ball of Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie that I had in a storage bin here in the yarn room. I have worked with the yarn a few times and I have to say I really like it. Its a nice step up from using Lily Sugar ‘n Cream. Scrubby Smoothie is pretty soft in the hands and I would say its just as soft if not softer than Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton. Scatter brain moment. I’m listening to SiriusXM’s 80’s on 8 as I type this and New Kids on the Block just started playing. I loved their music when I was a kid and still enjoy it. Time to get back on track. This posting is coming out as I think it so it may not be grammatically correct. Back to the Scrubby Smoothie. It was announced in the beginning of 2019 that Spinrite was acquiring the Red Heart brand from Coats and Clark. The merger of the two brands is finally starting to show its head with the Red Heart website redirecting you to the Yarnspirations website. I have this sinking feeling that we will start to see many Red Heart yarn brands starting to disappear once they quantities are depleted from the warehouses. From a business side it would make sense to remove redundancies in their yarn lines but the knitter in me doesn’t want to see that happen. I could easily see them dumping the Scrubby Smoothie line because Spinrite already has the Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarns. Anyways I really like working with the Scrubby Smoothie yarn and its a nice pooling yarn. If I can figure out how to insert a picture in here I will post a picture of the finished dishcloth.

Planned Pooling Knitting Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie Zesty

You can kind of see the pooling effect in the dishcloth. I used the Zesty colorway and that had 6 colors in one color repeat. I think that was too many colors for the size of project I made. The argyle look would definitely have popped if there were a couple less colors or many more stitches per row on my project. I like how it turned out and I don’t know if it will get added to my dishcloth collection for dishes or go into the pile of giftable knits. I’m working on making a bunch of different things and will let my friends pick out what they want. I’ve also thought putting some of my finished knits up for sale. No time table when that will happen.

Ok I think I rambled on long enough. Thank you for taking time to read this and I hope you enjoyed it.
