My next knitting project is going to a be a stitch sampler throw made with Herrschners Worsted 8 Heathers yarn that will be approximately 50″ x 60″. To make sure I purchased enough yarn for the blanket I grabbed a ball of the Heathers yarn in the color Saffron and made a small size blanket to act as a gauge swatch for the larger size project. I ended up using 174 grams of the Saffron yarn and that is approximately 75% of the ball of yarn. The finished size on the small blanket ended up being 20″ x 26″.
For the 50″ x 60″ throw I ordered 6 balls in the color Woodland. I really like working with the Worsted 8 Heathers yarn. It’s an excellent quality 100% acrylic yarn that is soft and squishy. The yarn is great to knit with and feels great against the skin.
The needles I’ll be using for this project are Addi Rocket Squared US 10 (Amazon Affiliate Link). I really like going up a needle size or 2 with my knitting projects when I want to create a fabric that has a really nice drape to it. I also really enjoy using the Addi Rocket Squared needles. The finish on these needles is so smooth and I love how the square shaped needles feel in my hands. I find them much more comfortable to use than round needles.
Right now I’m currently picking out all the different stitches I’ll be using in the throw. The plan is to have 9 sections of different stitches for the throw. The small blanket only had 7 sections of stitches. Come back as I make more posts with updates of the throw project. I’m trying to have this finished by the end of September.
