I had the idea to knit a yarn cozy for some of the larger size yarn cakes that are 140-200 grams of 3 weight and 4 weight yarn. What I came up with is what I’m calling My Big Cake Basket. It’s knit with 3 weight yarn and US 6 needles. This is knit in the round and has a basket weave body. Where you see sl2wyib you will slip 2 stitches purlwise with yarn in back. I haven’t tried this yet but I’m guessing you could also knit this in 4 weight yarn and US 8 needles and get maybe a little bit bigger yarn cozy that will still be able to hold this big yarn cakes. For this My Big Cake Basket I used some Premier Yarns Colorfusion DK in the color Grape Vine.

This is a rough copy of what I wrote up for how I constructed My Big Cake Basket. I haven’t decided yet if I will put this into a downloadable pdf pattern. That I will decide in the future but for now here is the pattern to knit My Big Cake Basket.
