The Express Coaster (mug rug) uses a stitch I originally intended to use for a scarf. The more I knit the scarf the less I was feeling it and decided to rip the project out. I still wanted to share the stitch so I put it into this small project so I could get it online to share. This is a reversible, 1-row stitch that looks the same on each side of the project. The multiple for this stitch pattern is 10 stitches.
For the coaster size you will cast on 24 stitches. I used medium weight yarn and US 8 needles.
The first row you will slip the first stitch purlwise with yarn in front (sl1wyif) and then knit the rest of the stitches.
You pattern row that you will repeat the entire scarf is: sl1wyif, k1, (k3, p2, k1, k2, k2) repeat () to last 2 stitches, k2
Repeat this row until your coaster is the length you want and then bind off.
